Calathea Orbifolia

Calathea Orbifolia is native to South America. Everyone chose her for its clean, designer-quality foliage, the oversized leaves, striped with silvery bands that are tastefully beautiful in the simplest way.

Orbifolia is one of the largest Calatheas. Its bold oval leaves can grow over 40 cm across – it makes a classic statement plant.

She needs high humidity and consistently moist soil to thrive. They naturally grow in bright forest shade and need to be kept out of direct sun. Bright direct light will fade and damage their leaves.

Its tropical nature asks for evenly moist soil but never completely dry. Watering is an essential topic in keeping your Orbifolia healthy and looking its best. The leaves won't hesitate to tell you they're thirsty - they will bend down.
A terra-cotta pot will make the soil dry out too fast. A better option is to use a plastic pot that holds moisture and place it inside a decorative pot without drainage holes.

Its growing speed varies, but it's never a very fast grower and goes semi-dormant over the cool season.

The plant is 30 cm tall and will be shipped in a 12 cm pot.
